I currently teach Landscape Architecture Core and Advanced Vertical Design Studios, Integrated Cross-Disciplinary, Green Infrastructure and Design Process Classes, as well as International Urban Design Studio and Study Abroad primarily to Scandinavia. Read more about my teaching philosophy here.

My research, teaching, and practice has a focus on public health related to urban living systems design, planning and theory, and I enjoy exploring critical innovate design thinking for inside-outside green infrastructure transitions. Through living (breathing) buildings, landscape, and urbanism, I explore new potentials of ‘green infrastructure’ (living breathing building, harvesting and storing energy), landscapes on (and as) structure, green roofs/green walls/living systems, and other green urban infrastructures integrated with renewable technologies.

I furthermore combine my research, teaching, and practice into Research-By-Design or Participatory Action Research (PAR), and I investigate how Metacognition in the Design Process can help achieve innovative integrated cross-disciplinary design thinking.

I also practice Landscape Architecture with my own firm, Danika LLC. I consult on projects related to green roofs, living walls and green facades.

I am a LEED AP Certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional,  2004) and Green Roof Professional (Green Roof Accredited Professional, 2009).
