CSU Pueblo - Prairie Green Roof on Music and Arts Building

Colorado State University, Pueblo, Colorado, USA
The Prairie Garden Green Roof at Colorado State University is a great example of celebrating and extending the authenticity of local conditions onto the surface of the architecture. Inspired by the plains and desert prairie around Colorado State University, this retrofit project elegantly respect the historic outline and shapes of the architecture. Outdoor garden rooms feature semi-intensive green roof pockets. A matrix of subareas and buffer edges, precisely fitted into areas, where structural capacity allow it, hold deeper profiles in the growing media, and as a result a more diverse planting palette and green roof garden experience. This Prairie green roof garden extend throughout the event space at the front entrance of the music hall building and offer spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains towards the West.
